How To Cure Insomnia – Three Simple Steps

by anonymous user on June 20, 2010

Much like the proverbial plumber, Mr. Sandman does not always show up when he is expected or needed.

You may expect him around ten p.m. and he won’t appear until, at dawn maybe just before it’s time to get up. He may not show up at all. And, like the repairman that didn’t come when he was supposed to, he might come during the day when you need to be at work, maybe causing serious problems .

When you find it difficult to fall asleep, you know you might have a problem .

If you are being plagued by sleep disorders, including insomnia, it is time to start to think of how to cure insomnia , starting with natural sleep remedies.

Even before you try aromatherapy, for example, try uncomplicated things first.

Don’t start with an OTC medicine or call the Dr. for a sleeping pill. Sometimes the easiest and most obvious suggestions are the best to try.

Here are three very basic methods to begin with:

Darkness Is King!

To begin with, check that your room is at the right temperature and is dark enough. I once knew a lady who had trouble sleeping and really fidgety nights, until one night her alarm clock got unplugged by accident. For the first time in months she slept through the night!

The alarm clock, with its bright light, was disturbing her sleep and she did not even realize it. Investigate all possible sources of light if you suspect that is one reason .

Be Cool!

The temperature of the room should be cool, but not cold – you might need a cover, but not a parka and mittens. Again, some people are more sensitive to temperature than others. For instance, some people cannot sleep at all, if their feet are cold. (I can’t, socks are “high fashion” in winter!)

Silence Is Golden!

Also, make sure that your bedroom is quiet: dogs barking, the dripping tap that the repairman claimed to have fixed, anything that might be bothersome enough, disrupting your sleep.

If any kind of sound is disrupting your sleep, consider earplugs or a white noise machine. Even a fan will drown some of these sounds out and will make it feel like fresher air.

There!  Three very simple and basic tips for natural insomnia remedies! Unless you have really serious problems this might be all you need.
